When Things Go Wrong

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Lovely, lovely. A good thing to read on a cold November night. :)

That was profound Werther. Like Sarah said it was also nice to read seeing it's so cold. Everything seems all the more depressing when it's cold doesn't it! Excellent timing for me. Although I preferred the 1st by Anon ~ was more meaningful for me and also perhaps since Kiplings seemed to be aimed at a male audience. Thanks for sharing this.

Good Tuesday morning to you, Young Werther.

The kipling thoughts were wonderful.

Feeling mealncholy is hard... Sometimes you wonder why life has turned out the way it does. Why others seem to have happiness so easily - or wealth - or fame - and yet it is elusive for you...

The holidays seem to do that to you if you are single or old...

It takes a lot of introspection to see how our choices have led us in a certain direction. And that lying deep within those choices/the habit patterns... is the answer that eventually frees you and brings more joy and success in...

((hugs)) and ((more hugs))

Thanks guys.

Na, not feeling down at all. Tend to use the blog like a notebook, jot/ scribble/ mark stuff that moves me. Can be a bit random at times..

But then that's just me :)
