Education for Education's sake

Many years ago, when I was a young lad, Lord Denning came to speak at my school. He emphasised that education was not merely the pursuit of academic qualifications but to develop a healthy mind, body and soul.

Unfortunately, this message has somehow been lost on the institutions of today. It’s all about me, me and how to make a truckload of money. This brings me on to useless research conducted at many of our esteemed institutions of today. In May I wrote about research from the University of Warwick in England suggesting that straight women cannot read maps.

Durham University has gone one better. Their research suggests that women prefer to marry men with feminine features. Commiserations to the square jawed hunky Clark Kent, let's welcome the full lipped hottie Brandon Routh.

“Men with masculine faces, with features such as a square jaw, larger nose and smaller eyes, were classed as significantly more dominant, less faithful, worse parents and as having personalities that were less warm, compared to their ‘feminine’ counterparts, who had finer facial features with fuller lips, wide eyes and thinner, more curved eyebrows.”

Brandon Routh -
as the metrosexual Superman

Something new or merely a confirmation of the metrosexual/ ubersexual trait I wonder?
