Mid Autumn Love Story

I'm a fantasy novel nutter and was quite taken by the story of Hou Yi and Chang'e. Yesterday, 12th September was the Mid Autumn Festival (think moon cakes and paper lanterns).

It's the story about a Hou Yi, the god of archery who lost his immortality, and had to live the rest of his life on earth. One day, he defeated the water god, who abandoned his daughter Chang'e in his haste to escape. Chang'e was downright gorgeous, and it was love at first sight for Hou.

They were soon married and as with most marriages, when the Hou was out hunting the baddies, Chang'e was bored at home. Hou was previously rewarded two bottles of the elixir of life (one for Chang'e and one for himself), but did not tell Chang'e what they were. In her boredom, she drank the double dose, and ascended to the moon to live forever with a white rabbit (that's another story).

She became the moon goddess. What became of Hou? He was murdered by his best student...
